Super-lightweight contender Jack Catterall had a special welcome message for new stablemate Ohara Davies on Monday ahead of a potential 2018 clash.
Davies signed with Frank Warren days after leaving Matchroom Boxing under a cloud, adding to his recent deal with Tyson Fury’s management company at MTK Global.
Upon announcing the signing, Warren confirmed Davies v Catterall was one of the possible fights to consider once the Londoner makes his debut under his banner this spring.
“Ohara is a quality fighter and one of the best out there,” said Warren.
“I’m delighted to welcome him to the team and we’re looking forward to him making his debut with us at The 02 on April 14th.
“The Super-Lightweight division is one of the most exciting weight classes in British boxing, there’s no doubt about that. In our stable alone we have the likes of Terry Flanagan, Jack Catterall, Josh Leather and Jeff Saunders.
“There’s a lot of good fights to be made in the next year or so and it’s great for the fans because we are going to make sure these fights happen,” he added.
For his part, Catterall was a little less politically correct and simply stated: “I’d love to smack the dog sh** out of you! #welcomed,” via social media.
An opponent for Davies is expected to be something of a warm up before a stiffer test in the summer.
