Joshua v Parker for the unified WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles is set to be a huge night selling more than 70,000 tickets for the Principality Stadium already.

The night will be even bigger should Price and Povetkin collide with a potential future clash against the winner of Joshua Parker on the line.

Speaking on Wednesday, Price filled WBN in on the current situation with the bout.

“I’m just waiting to hear an update as last week I agreed my side of the deal. I’m hopeful that it can happen, it’s an opportunity that we didn’t expect at this stage,” Price exclusively told World Boxing News.

Early on, Price is seen as an underdog for Povetkin challenge and nothing could motivate ‘The Big Horrible Heavyweight’ more.

“If it can be made, its a win-win fight for me. I’ll go in there as an underdog with the belief that I can win the fight,” the Liverpool man pointed out.

“The facts say that Povetkin is the better fighter, as far as records are concerned, but every sporting occasion there’s always the possibility of upsetting the odds and I believe that.

“If this fight happens, I am going to upset the odds that night,” he added.

Price is planning to take the heavyweight scene by storm in 2018, beginning with Povetkin, as the 34 year-old believes he can change previous misfortunes for the better.

“It’s going to be a fight by fight basis but the Povetkin fight is a life-changing opportunity. It puts me up there for a world title and it’s just a matter of waiting for that fight and being ready.”

After his stoppage defeat to Christian Hammer in February, Price didn’t return to the ring until December where he outpointed journeyman Kamil Sokolowski to bring his record to 22-4 [18 KOs].

The focus for 2018 is to get the Povetkin fight done and into title contention from that as Price concluded: “My plan is to gatecrash the heavyweight division, possibly grab a few titles and keep moving on.”
