Back on social media and in defiant mood, DeGale was asked why his bio still shows him as the IBF super-middleweight champion of the world, to which he replied: “I’ll be getting it back in a couple of months!” – meaning a potential announcement could be imminent.
DeGale was linked to a possible move up to 175 pounds to target the winner of Adonis Stevenson versus old foe Badou Jack but it seems the Olympic gold medallist has unfinished business at the lower limit and isn’t ready to move up just yet.
In their January ratings, the WBC place DeGale in the Top 15, as WBN reported, and one step closer to a possible challenge against David Benavidez.
The pair were linked to a unification prior to the Truax loss, and should DeGale exact revenge, a two-belt battle could be on the cards for later in 2018.
Alternatively, if the second Truax bout falls through, DeGale would then be in line to battle Benavidez in a voluntary capacity.
