Danny Green v Anthony Mundine: Rivals tipped for awkward ‘I’m A Celebrity’ reunion this month

Green and Mundine, who met in the ring twice – eleven years apart winning one fight each, are consistently linked to a rubber match but will need to get through at least a couple of weeks without punching each other’s lights out on live TV first.

Mundine took the spoils in the initial meeting at a weight stipulation of just under 168 pounds in 2006 before the pair then collided again in February last year a few pounds higher with Green taking a majority verdict.

Confirmation of Green and Mundine’s stint on the show is set to happen on January 28, although didn’t stop Channel 10 posting a teaser when drumming up interest in what will be series four of the hit reality programme.

“Two feuding celebrities Two celebrities in the middle of Australia’s biggest feud will be heading into the jungle,” read the promo.

“This Australian duo are used to clashing in real life, but what will happen when they are forced to live alongside one another in the unpredictable African terrain?”

If all goes well in the jungle, Green and Mundine could then embark on a trilogy fight later in 2018, which would once and for all put to bed one of the fiercest disagreements in boxing history down under.

Recently, UK fighter Amir Khan resurrected his career on the back of finish fifth on the British version.

US network CBS hold the current rights to Channel 10’s format, with executive Les Moonves the man behind finally getting Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in the ring together in 2015.
