Confirmed: Joshua v Parker UK meeting set to secure unification

Joshua v Parker 08/01/2018

WBN has been informed Duco boss David Higgins has flown to London for a meeting with Eddie Hearn to trash out final terms on a unification between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.

The pair have long been linked to a spring encounter for a clutch of world heavyweight title belts, and after several weeks of haggling, are seemingly ready to put pen to paper.

Higgins was reluctant to travel the distance to link up with Hearn until everything was agreed and the fact that he’s boarded the plane is a strong sign things are heading in the right direction.

Once signed and sealed, a press conference will follow to reveal more about the four-championship fight which will eventually mean one of the fighters gains a massive stronghold on the division.

Joshua comes into the fight on the back of a successful 2017 where the Briton earned several accolades after defeating Wladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam in bouts that sold over 150,000 tickets between them.

For Parker, a more low-key affair broadcast on YouTube over Hughie Fury came to fruition but was enough to secure the Joshua payday and gives the New Zealander a chance to cause a huge upset.

Venues in the UK and Europe have been touted to host Joshua v Parker, although Cardiff remains the frontrunner, where Joshua took apart late replacement Takam back in October.

The winner of the fight, potentially set to be confirmed for March 31 or on a date in April could then move on to battle WBA mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in the summer.

More is set to come to light once Higgins and Hearn go face-to-face in a bid to finally get the fight over the line.
