Stats released to WBN by CompuBox after his sixth round retirement against the formidable Ukrainian show ‘Rigo’ didn’t land more than three punches in a round despite the Cuban stating the injury happened in the second.

As Lomachenko took every round from two to six, the numbers reveal the WBO ruler connected a lot more than his opponent did.

Key Loma v Rigo notes:

* Rigondeaux never landed more than three punches in any round.

* Lomachenko reached double-digit total connects in three of the six completed rounds.

* Lomachenko averaged 68.3 punches per round in the final three rounds to Rigondeaux’s 32.3 and out-landed him 34-8 overall, 20-4 jabs 14-4 power in that span.

For the fourth consecutive fight, Lomachenko forced an opponent to quit on his stool. In this case, Rigondeaux retired on his stool between rounds six and seven, claiming an injury to his left hand.

Lomachenko was more active (56.5 per round to 29.7) and slightly more accurate, though the numbers were low (16% for Loma, 8% for Rigo).

Lomachenko’s 16 total connects in round four tied Nonito Donaire’s effort in round 10 for the total punches ever landed by a Rigondeaux opponent. Rigo did not land more than 3 punches in any round.
