WBC: ‘Whoever stops Joshua v Wilder in 2018 should be ashamed’

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman is urging the promotional teams of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua to knuckle down.

Sulaiman wants both sides to agree on staging the bout, which fight fans want to see come to fruition. So far, it’s been frustrating all the way for everyone.

Mauricio said the purse percentage negotiations and disputes are up to the promoters to resolve. They are responsible for facilitating a mega heavyweight bout of two exciting, undefeated power champion punchers.

WBC President wants Joshua vs Wilder

“It will be a shame if they don’t fight next year. Whoever gets in the middle of making this fight should be ashamed of himself because boxing needs these fights.

“The WBC has done its part, the road is clear, and everything is ready for the fight to be made, and there’s no reason not to make it.

“The heavyweight division has been the model of boxing, and now every possibility is there; it would be a terrible mistake not to make this happen,” he added.

WBN Note: Without Joshua, Joseph Parker’s team could approach Wilder for unification in the coming months, something WBN has touched upon in a recent article.
