‘Baby’ Jake Robinson is currently gearing up to make his professional debut next month at the Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre on December 15, live on S4C.
WBN caught up with the youngster as he revealed he is in great preparation ahead of his opening fight.
Robinson has been training with the likes of IBF world champion Lee Selby and admitted he is enjoying life in the pro ranks.
Speaking exclusively to World Boxing News he said: “Lee and I have sparred a lot of rounds, but I’ve also sparred rounds with Joe Cordina and Andrew Selby as well. They are all top guys to spar with and it’s great to experience so many sessions where I am sparring with quality boxers.”
Selby will be back in action next month as well, co-headlining at the London Copper Box alongside James DeGale. The Welshman will take on Mexican Eduardo Ramirez with long-time rival Josh Warrington awaiting in the wings if he is to prevail.
Robinson believes the IBF king has the tools to down fellow featherweights Carl Frampton and Warrington if the bouts get made.
He added: “He’s such a good fighter and is so tricky to fight and box with. It’s been great to share the ring with him as I’ve been learning certain tricks off him, the sort of professional tricks needed for when going in the ring. We done six rounds against each other the day.
“I think on his day he can beat most of them. He’s very awkward and has the height and reach at featherweight to cause anyone problems, to be honest I don’t know how he makes the weight! If he boxes well then, he can beat all of them.”
