Floyd Mayweather brands UK tabloid Amir Khan quotes ‘fake lies’, says there’ll be no 51st fight

The 40 year-old was quoted saying the following regarding a fight with long-time rival Khan:

“For the last five years all I have been hearing is Amir Khan running his mouth off that he deserves a shot against me,” according to the Sunday Star.

“It’s nothing new for me. Every fighter out there wants a chance against me because they know, win or lose, it’s going to be a big pay day for them. But I have always maintained I am nobody’s meal ticket.

“He wants to fight the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and now I hear is running away from a few snakes and spiders. I only set up fights with fighters that deserve it and who are going to be part of a great fight for fans.

“Please! He needs to get real and stick with TV.”

Mayweather confirmed he didn’t say the quotes as well as condemning a report by TMZ stating he was thinking of a return to boxing for a 51st contest.

“I’m happily retired. I’m not fighting no more, no matter what the price is,” Mayweather told Ben Thompson of FightHype.com in a recent FaceTime conversation.

When asked directly about the Khan quotes, Mayweather – who is currently in China – added: “Fake! All lies.”

It’s never out of the question that Mayweather would once again make a stunning comeback to the ring in 2018, although the Khan story has been labeled fictitious as the Briton continues his stint on UK TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’

Khan will be looking to get his career back on track in early 2018 and will be hoping to be crowned, ‘King of the Jungle’ before he resumes his boxing career.

For Mayweather, it seems as though 50 bouts is enough despite Wanheng Menayothin recently pushing to 49-0 with his latest WBC title defense.
