The big heavyweight will be going after his first win as a professional at the Venue on Icknield Port Road in Edgbaston on BCB Promotions’ show ‘The Rising’.
Stevens is undefeated, though, after taking part in an exhibition against Mitch Mitchell and fighting to a draw on his full debut against Dmitrij Kalinovskij since turning pro.
The 23-year-old, originally from Handsworth but now living in Redditch, came into the paid ranks with no amateur experience, having previously competed on the unlicensed circuit.
He insists he won’t take his foot off the gas in the ring this time, after learning the lessons from letting Kalinovskij back into proceedings. His opponent has yet to be confirmed.
“I don’t know who I’ve got yet and I don’t care,” he told bcb-promotions.com. “All I want to do is go out there and show the improvements we’ve been working on in the gym.
“I learned a lot about myself in my last fight, I won the first two rounds, but I felt so relaxed I eased off too much. I’m thankful that happened, so I know not to do the same again.
“I need to be on top of my game all through the fight next time and look to win every round, so there can be no mistake. I know I’ve got to apply myself throughout.
“I feel like I can box, so the onus is on me to be able to mix it up. I’ve trained hard with my coaches in those areas.
“I’m naturally a 15st man, I was 18st when I first took up boxing and the weight has come off through training. Heavyweight is and should be my division.
“If a TKO comes along, I’d happily take it but the win is what’s most important, along with getting the rounds and experience in.”
Fellow Brummie Matt Sen, at cruiserweight also features as does debutant Mussab Abubaker. Coventry’s Dilly Singh, at the venue where he won the British Challenge cruiserweight title, returns to action alongside Tividale’s Ryan ‘Stewart’ Davies and Walsall super lightweight debutant, Kasif Khan.
The English light heavyweight title will also be contested at the top of the bill as Barrow In Furness’ Liam Conroy defends against Southampton’s Chris Hobbs.
