Carl Frampton and his relationship with Barry, Blain and Shane McGuigan is set to under the spotlight following the decision by Cyclone Promotions to launch legal action against the fighter.
Frampton announced his decision to leave the McGuigans earlier this year and eventually signed a deal with Frank Warren and MTK Global, recently scoring a victory on his return to Belfast.
Just weeks later and lawyer John Finucane has confirmed Frampton will counter-claim against Cyclone Promotions on a ‘number of grounds’ as things ended badly between both sides.
WBN understands financial matters are the main bone of contention between Frampton and Cyclone, something which had initially led to the break-up.

Here’s the official statement from Frampton’s legal team at Finucane Toner:
“We can confirm that Cyclone Promotions and Blain McGuigan have lodged proceedings against our client Mr. Carl Frampton in the High Court, London on November 23rd 2017.
“Mr. Frampton is deeply disappointed that Cyclone Promotions have decided to initiate legal action against him, however, he will not only defend this action rigorously but can confirm that he will be counter claiming on a number of grounds.
“Mr. Frampton is confident that this process will vindicate his position and reputation and looks forward to engaging fully in this process to present all aspects of this claim before the court.
“Therefore it would be inappropriate to issue any further comments at this time.”
