WBN are sad to have learned of the death of 7-0 bantamweight prospect Cesar Omar Diaz Sandoval (Cesar Diaz) over the weekend.
Diaz, who holds an amateur victory over Shakur Stevenson during his ring career, was just 20 years old when he died in a tragic car crash.
Golden Boy Promotions have moved to pay tribute to Diaz in a statement released on Saturday.
“Everyone at Golden Boy Promotions is heartbroken over the passing of Cesar Diaz over Thanksgiving weekend.
“As talented and aggressive as he was in the ring, anyone who met Cesar knew how kind and nice he was outside of it.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Cesar’s girlfriend, who remains in critical condition, and his entire family,” read the GBP release.
Highly touted as a future world champion, Diaz fought seven times in sixteen months after turning pro in 2016 and last competed on November 2 when stopping Pedro Melo in Tuscon.
Our thoughts go out to Cesar Diaz’s family and those close to his girlfriend as she continues to fight for her life.
