Bellew: Browne and Ortiz should be banned for life!

Rumors Haye was ready to cancel the rematch surfaced the previous week and Bellew was mulling over a potential world title clash with Joseph Parker.

According to Bellew, Parker would be an ideal choice for his next fight, although wants the New Zealander to avoid the likes of Lucas Browne and Luis Ortiz due to their previous drug testing failures.

“(Parker’s) size stops him from matching up with Joshua and Wilder. I do think he beats most of the other heavyweights in the world,” pointed out Bellew in his Metro column.

“His work-rate, chin and tenacity gets him past every other heavyweight, bar me – and maybe David Haye. I actually think Haye’s power and speed would see him stop Parker.

“For all I say about Haye, he is a very, very good fighter. If I was Parker, I wouldn’t even touch Lucas Browne. He’s a steroid cheat, forget him.

“Browne and Luis Ortiz should be banned for life, otherwise someone is going to be killed in the ring by a steroid user.

“That will happen one day and then we’ll see drug cheats banned for life. It’s sad, but that’s where we are heading,” added the Liverpool man.

Bellew, 33, is now in limbo due to Haye’s injury problems, whilst a fight before Christmas seems to be off the menu due to a personal tragedy.

‘The Bomber’ suffered a terrible loss as his brother-in-law died at the age of just 32, although Bellew was prepared to continue with the Haye return.

As Haye is out of action, potentially permanently, Bellew could now take a break and look to arrange a contest for February or March of 2018.
