Bellew defends AJ over Fury, ‘get fit, you fat f***’ jibe

Uncharacteristically for Joshua on social media recently, the current heavyweight swore when addressing divisional rival Tyson Fury before doing the same in a reply to the original tweet.

Bellew, a friend and potential foe of ‘AJ’ for a considerable time, says things were blown out of proportion when fans began questioning if it was ‘the real Anthony Joshua’ or not.

“Anthony has always been Anthony, I just can’t understand why everyone gave him so much grief for swearing on Twitter. He swore, so what? I just don’t get it,” said Bellew in his Metro column.

“He’s a young man and what I find disturbing is people trying to drag him down, hurting his profile. It’s sad and pathetic. Headlines like: ‘This is the real Anthony Joshua.’ Show me when he’s changed? He’s always been the same.”

On the infamous Fury post, in which Joshua called the ex-ruler ‘a fat f***’, Bellew gave a tongue-in-cheek response as the former attempts to shed a considerable amount of timber.

‘The Bomber’ said: “He swears before in interviews. He’s just had enough of being called names and labelled a runner. I mean, what he said about Tyson Fury, ‘get fit you fat f***’, he’s not telling lies is he?”

Joshua v Fury is currently one of the most-sought-after fights on UK soil, although there are many barriers in the way of making the contest a reality in 2018.

Fury was more recently involved in an exchange with David Price, a fight many see as the perfect way for the ‘Gypsy King’ to shake of ring rust from two years out.
