WBN heard reliably over the weekend that Haye’s achilles may not be fully firing on all cylinders in training, leading to Bellew’s promoter Eddie Hearn putting out a denial.
Hearn also wondered whether someone from Team Haye was behind leaking the information in a bid to gain some sort of psychological advantage over his rival.
Similar happened in the run-up to the first contest in March and resulted in Haye struggling for five rounds with a severe injury – eventually being stopped by the Liverpool man.
The adverse reports coming from Haye’s camp have since led to bookmakers in the UK squeezing the odds on another Bellew victory.
‘The Bomber’ was widely marked at 9/4 with many of the top number crunchers prior to the weekend, whilst most have now brought those fractions down to 2/1.
Haye was 1/3 on for revenge on December 17, although now stands at 4/9 and 2/5 with a host of the major gambling sites.
As previously stated in the original WBN report, Haye would be likely to fight on despite not being 100% – as in the first bout, although would significantly increase his chances of suffering a fourth career reverse.
It’s less than five weeks until the pair trade blows again at The O2 Arena in London and Haye could be staring at the end of his successful ring stint if he fails to secure a much-needed redemption against Bellew next month.
