Following on from a recent Management Buy-In, MTK Global have appointed Ciarán Gallagher as their new Head of Media Communications.
With a large investment leading to an overhaul of the company’s management structure, MTK Global have now moved to boost media coverage and communications to benefit their 130-plus stable of talented fighters with this latest appointment.
Having worked in media for over 10 years, Ciarán has reported on numerous sports for a variety of Irish and UK publications, including RTÉ, The Irish Times, Irish Examiner, Irish Independent, Irish Daily Star, The Mirror, The Sun, The Times, The42.ie and Boxing News, specialising in boxing and Gaelic games.
As a radio reporter, Ciarán first began to cover boxing in a professional capacity in 2007. After moving into print journalism with the Irish Daily Mail, he documented the careers of a number of Irish fighters both domestically and internationally from 2010-15.
Kicking off a busy two-year period as a freelance, Ciarán reported on the 2015 World amateur championships in Doha for seven Irish national media outlets prior to covering the sport at both amateur and professional level – from national championships to world- title fights – in the UK, US, Germany and Australia for a host of newspapers, websites and broadcast media stations.
Ciarán is keen to build on his previous work in his new role.
“I’ve interviewed and covered a lot of MTK Global fighters over the years – there are so many talented boxers and interesting characters that are deserving of coverage and I hope to help bring their careers, efforts and positive stories to the public’s attention. After chatting with Matthew and Paul, they impressed me with their enthusiasm and I’m really excited about the opportunity after the recent change of management and investment in the company.”
With MTK Global co-founder Matthew Macklin having regularly dealt with Ciarán throughout his own professional fighting career, he is delighted to welcome the new addition aboard.
“I’ve known Ciarán for years and his coverage of Irish boxing in that time has been second to none. He was the guy we really wanted for this role and I’ve no doubt he’s going to be a big part of the company moving forward.”
MTK International Operations Director Paul Gibson echoes those sentiments.
“One of my priorities was to quickly put the right person in place for this role and Ciarán was top of my list of targets. I’ve been reading his work for ten years and I couldn’t think of anyone better to help secure our fighters the type of quality coverage they need to boost their careers. I’m delighted we’ve got him and just in time for fight week of Frampton Reborn, the biggest boxing card in Irish history.”
MTK Global will announce further appointments and new management personnel in the coming weeks.
