Amir Khan lands in Australia, puts career on hold for UK TV show

The 30 year-old has signed up to appear in ITV’s hit series ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ and plans to spend the next few weeks in the Australian jungle.

Landing down under this weekend, Khan is hoping to improve his perception in the public eye after recently getting back together with his estranged wife following a divorce reversal.

Khan hasn’t fought since May 2016 and had planned on fighting in the UK by the end of the year. Things have obviously changed for the 2004 Olympic silver medallist who will be looking to be busy in the coming year.

The lack of activity comes at a critical time in Khan’s professional career and could have a long-term effect should a comeback not happen by the spring of 2018.

For now, fans of Khan will be able to see him in a new light as contestants are regularly subjected to ‘Bush-Tucker Trials’ where they are expected to eat critters and face challenges with snakes and spiders.

Previous boxers to appear on I’m a Celebrity include David Haye, Joe Bugner and Chris Eubank Sr.

Other celebrities spotted flying in for their spell in camp are Vanessa White, Jack Maynard, Georgia Toffolo, Dennis Wise and Jamie Lomas.

The show kicks off on November 19, although the cast members begin life in the outback a day earlier.
