Martin Harkin in action on Nov 23 St Andrew’s event

Harkin joins the card which is topped by ‘The Untouchable’ Kash Farooq squaring off against Scott Allan for the Scottish title and the right to box for the British Bantamweight title. Harkin gave his thoughts on being added to the card and the main event.

Harkin said, “I’m delighted to be on this show and thank you to Iain Wilson for getting me on.

“The first time Kash and Scott fought it was a great fight and I know a lot of eyes will be on this show so it’s a great opportunity for me to perform on the undercard.”

Harkin’s last outing saw him stop the well tested former Scottish Champion Craig Kelly with an impressive second-round stoppage. Harkin elaborated on his excellent performance last time out at St Andrew’s Sporting Club, and how training was going for his upcoming contest.

He said, “I had a good performance last time out. My trainer Danny Lee and I knew what to expect from Craig as he comes to fight and comes to win so I am happy that it ended up being a good convincing win for me.”

“Training’s been going well as ever under the guidance of Danny. I always give 100% and never cut any corners in training and that shows on the night.

Harkin’s last victory came over a former Scottish Champion, and many predict it won’t be long till Harkin makes the step up to title action. The rising Welterweight hope opened up on the possibilities of title contests in the near future.

The Dumbarton man said, “If I keep taking one fight at a time, fight on a regular basis, perform well, keep winning then hopefully I can fight for a title in 2018.

“This fight people watching ringside can expect accurate sharp punching, I want people to be impressed each time I fight and I’m sure by doing that it will get me in line for title fights when the times right.”
