Anthony Yigit to fight Joe Hughes on Dec 2 in Leicester

Ringside 01/11/2017

Undefeated European Super Lightweight champion Anthony Yigit (20-0-1 – 7KOs) will face former English champion and British title challenger Joe Hughes (15-2-1 – 6KOs) on December 2nd at Leicester Arena. The exciting bout tops an action-packed bill which will be shown live on Spike5 and Channel 5.

Swedish sensation Yigit won the European strap with an impressive points win over Lenny Daws in early 2017, and now makes his second defence of the title having defeated Spain’s Sandor Martin last time out.

Challenger Joe Hughes will now turn his attention to claiming the EBU belt, having failed to rip the British title from Champion Tyrone Nurse in April following a controversial draw on the scorecards.

Many felt Hughes had done enough to claim the Lonsdale strap, and the Wiltshire man will be looking to put in another impressive performance on December 2nd.

TICKETS FOR ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ AT LEICESTER ARENA ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 2ND ARE NOW AVAILABLE – PRICED £30 AND VIP INNER RINGSIDE AT £100 + BOOKING FEES, AND AVAILABLE FROM WWW.TICKETMASTER.CO.UK OR CALL 0844 844 0444.

Also on the bill is the newly-crowned Commonwealth Cruiserweight champion Luke Watkins (12-0-0 – 8KOs), who jumps straight into the deep end with a tough first defence against Merseyside’s Mike Stafford (16-3-0 – 3KOs).

Watkins challenged for the vacant belt live on Spike against the previously-unbeaten Robin Dupre last month, and claimed victory in what was undoubtedly fight of the night. Challenger Stafford has won three fights on the bounce since coming back from injury in 2016, and will be looking to claim Commonwealth glory on the big stage.

Craig Morris (8-1-0) will face Ryan Martin (8-1-0) in an English Welterweight title eliminator, in what looks to be a real 50-50 matchup with fight of the night written all over it.

Morris previously held the BBBofC Midlands Area title, and will be looking to push towards claiming more domestic honours by coming through one of the toughest tests of his career.
