Joshua tipped for early knockout over Takam

Director of Trading Ian Marmion has tipped Joshua to take down Takam between rounds one and three and is priced at evens to do so.

He said: “As the odds suggest, Anthony Joshua is expected to extend his professional career record to 20-0 on Saturday night when he faces stand-in Carlos Takam at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

“Originally booked to fight Kubrat Pulev, Joshua has had less than two weeks to prepare for his new opponent who will bring a different type of challenge to the table than Pulev would have.

“The Cameroonian-French heavyweight moves faster and reportedly hits harder than Pulev, but lacks any type of experience at this level and that mixed with Joshua’s all-round game may well overpower Takam.

“Joshua is predicting that the fight may well go deep into the rounds, as Takam may try and be as elusive as is possible in the early rounds, fearful of Joshua’s power. However, it’s hard to see this one going the distance on the night and Joshua will be keen to end this one as quickly as possible due to the difficulties Takam may present.

“Looking at the Round Group Betting markets, Joshua to stop the fight in rounds 1-3 looks the bet at even money as he will be keen to finish early and get back into the gym for a bigger test next time out.”
