Ljungquist, Thorslund feature on Brahmer v Brant this Friday night

Ljungquist, who signed promotional terms with Team Sauerland last month, is a former three-time national champion and two-time Nordic Champion, who has represented Denmark at both the World and European Amateur Championships.

The 27 year-old heavyweight, who is scheduled to face Karelishvili over six-rounds, says he is excited to be making his debut on such a big show against a tough opponent.

“I’m really looking forward to this fight,” said Ljungquist. “My opponent has a good record, and I’m really glad that I get a good opponent in my debut fight.

“It’s simply too cool that I’m going to fight on the World Boxing Super Series undercard. I am really looking forward to standing in the ring and feeling the atmosphere. I could not ask for a better stage to show who I am and what I can do. The crowd can look forward to seeing a technically skilled, hard-hitting boxer that connects with enormous power when he finds the openings.

“Schwerin is not far from where I grew up in Denmark, and I know that Danish fans will come down and support me, and they won’t regret it!”

Female super bantamweight star Dina Thorslund (9-0, 6 KOs) will also be flying the flag for Denmark in Schwerin. The current European champion is set to meet Croatia’s Nevenka Mikulic (7-9-1, 5 KOs) over eight rounds on the stacked World Boxing Super Series card.

“I’m really looking forward to getting in the ring again,” said Thorslund. “I’m dreaming of a World title fight at the end of the year, so I see this fight as part of my preparations. I do not take any fights easily, but this one is a fight I’m confident I’ll win. I’m sharp, I’m motivated and I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to showing the crowd in Schwerin some good action!”

Danish boxers Abdul Khattab (15-2, 4 KOs) and Micki Nielsen (23-1, 14 KOs) are also in action on the undercard. Khattab is on the comeback trail against Ronny Mittag (30-2-1, 15 KOs), while Nielsen meets Ukraine’s Taras Oleksiyenko (8-3, 7 KOs).
