Ian Lewison threw a haymaker of his own on Friday night, so huge in fact that the British heavyweight floored himself on David Haye’s promotional debut card in London.
Veteran Lewison, pitched in against Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce who was making his pro debut, was so physically drained in the eighth round that his momentum from a big right threw him to the canvas.

Shortly afterward, and on the back of shifting further punishment from Joyce, Lewison was rightly saved for another day by his corner.
With the win, Joyce hits the ground running in the paid ranks but certainly needs a bit more polish before making his way towards the British title in possession of Sam Sexton.
