Nort Beauchamp has made a massive announcement this week, with him fighting for the Interim WBA Oceania & vacant WBO Oriental lightweight title against Kye MacKenzie.
As some of you may know, Nort Beauchamp is one of New Zealand’s biggest boxers (no pun intended) coming out of Christchurch. Already in his four year professional career he has won the IBO Oceania lightweight title and the WBFound International lightweight title.
Beauchamp isn’t a big knockout artist but his speed and endurance makes up for it. His current record is W:15 (3 Kos) L:1 D:0 with his only lose coming from Cairo George. Beauchamp currently ranked 1st in NZ and 256th on Boxrec.
This will be his biggest fight of his career and if he wins, he will receive not only two new belts to his collection but a top 15 ranking in either WBA, WBO or both.
As for his opponent, Kye MacKenzie is a highly credentialed boxer. In his five year professional boxing career he is held the New South Wales State title, Australian National title twice, WBA – PABA title and he is an IBO World title challenger. He is currently ranked 2nd in Australia and 52nd in the world on Boxrec.
Mackenzie hold not only the Height advantage but also is the younger opponent. His current record in W: 17 (15 Kos) L: 1 D: 0. Only once in his career has he fought into the tenth round, but the fight end with him winning by TKO. Mackenzie is no stranger to big fights, so he will be comfortable going into this.
This fight will be on the Paul Gallen vs Puna Rasaubale undercard at Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Club, New South Wales, Australia on November 10th.
