Billy Joe Saunders has welcomed the challenge of David Lemieux following an order by the World Boxing Organisation.
The Hatfield man, who defeated Willie Monroe Jr. last month via unanimoius decision, has been given until November 8 to agree a defense of his belt.
Former IBF champion Lemieux has already begun goading Saunders prior to negotiations as the pair close in on what would be an entertaining contest.
Should Saunders v Lemieux become a reality, the winner could potentially meet Gennady Golovkin or Canelo Alvarez as a rematch of their super-fight draws near.
May 5, 2018 has been mentioned as a potential date for the return, with Saunders v Lemieux on the cards for January or February should an agreement be reached.
