Assassin Boxing sign Panama’s Israel Duffus

‘Assassin are doing some great things in The UK, and I have seen them expand, and I am delighted to have put my career in their hands.’

Israel Duffus becomes Assassin’s 3rd signing in the last week, following on the arrival of Andreas Maier (6-0, 5 KO’s) and Darren Cruise (7-6)

Duffus who has a staggering 12 KO’s, has fought the majority of his career on the west coast of America, having teamed up with his current trainer, Justin Furtune , who works in conjunction with the world famous, Freddie Roach.

‘I have been offered some big fights recently, but it is not at the right time in my career. I have chosen to work with Assassin Boxing, build and grow my career and pedigree, and take the big fights when I want them, not when other people want them. This is a marathon not a sprint’.

Having began his career in Panama, with a number of KO wins, he then featured on a few shows put on by Bob Arum and Top Rank, including one outing, where he defeated 7-0 rising star Ryan Bourland inside the first round.

‘I have been around a long time, yet I am still only 25. Those who have seen me fight know just how good I am. I have delivered time and time again’.

Having moved around the weights, Duffus is hoping to continue an assault on the light-heavyweight division, following a brief spell at cruiserweight, where he fell to the now 8-0 prospect Aleksi Papin, in Russia.

Duffus, who has ambitions of getting down to super-middleweight, has won his last 4 fights, and has won 9 of his last 12 fights, with those 3 defeats coming on the only 3 occasions he’s fought at cruiserweight.

‘I started out as a middleweight when I was a teenager, I naturally got bigger. I should be fighting between super-middleweight and light-heavyweight. I took 3 silly fights at cruiserweight, and lost all 3’

Aside, from boxing, Duffus has managed to find his place on ‘the big screen’, as he starred in the Hollywood film ‘Hands of Stone’ which included the great Robert Di Niro in the cast.

Married to actress, Gemma Marin, Duffus went viral for a video on YouTube where himself and his partner appeared dancing with their new born baby.
Founder of Assassin Boxing, and manager, Kaz Evans commented,

‘This is a great signing for us. It shows how far we have come that we can now work with someone like Duffus. He has a great story, and above all, he can fight. Israel is a great guy.

His record is very deceiving. If you take out the fights he took at cruiserweight, his record is 15-1 with 12 KO’s. That is brilliant. The plan is to get him to 20 wins, at his own pace. Once we’re there, we will take higher profile fights, and the world will know who Israel Duffus is.
