During the 55th WBC Convention in Baku, Azerbajain, the mandatory status of each division saw the confirmation of several mouth-watering matches in the future.
Below are statements regarding the super-featherweight and lightweight categories.
At super featherweight, champion Miguel Berchelt will fight a voluntary against Orlando Salido in December, whilst Francisco Vargas and Jhonny Gonzalez at two and three in the rankings, will fight a final eliminator.
At the lightweight limit, champion Mikey García will fight Diamond champion Jorge Linares should and agreement be reached.
WBN Note: Garcia is currently being linked to fights above the 135 pound weight class and as high as super-welterweight following reports of interest in facing Miguel Cotto.
Linares would then be in line to be crowned full champion without a fight having been named Diamond title holder when Garcia defeated Dejan Zlaticanin.
Following a win over Luke Campbell recently, Linares has several options, one of which is a return with the Briton. The others are a fight with Ray Beltran or a possible move north to 140 pounds.
