Ian Lewison has accepted the challenge of playing the role as the villain as he attempts to ruin the party for Joe Joyce.
The duo meet at the O2 Indigo Arena in what will be the main event of the opening show for Hayemaker Ringstar Promotions.
Lewison is a former British title contender, whilst Joyce will be opening up his professional account after crossing over from the amateur ranks.
On the fight itself, ‘Lay Em Out’ Lewison (12-3-1) admitted he was excited. He exclusively told World Boxing News: “It’s an opportunity I am relishing and he’s fought on big shows himself, he fought at the final of the Olympics so in terms of exposure and opportunities we’re kinda even on that.
He added: “In terms of professional experience, I have that over him but weighing up the opportunities we both have, it’s big because as it stands we’re both good opponents and the chance of us landing on our a*** is both there.”
The heavyweight division in Britain is currently in a good place with Anthony Joshua flying the Union flag, boasting the IBF, WBA and IBO world titles to his name.
One man who is hoping to follow Joshua to world glory is Hughie Fury. The mandatory contender meets WBO king Joseph Parker at the Manchester Arena at the end of the month.
If Lewison prevails, then the 35-year-old is hoping to secure a domestic showdown with the likes of Fury and David Price.
“I want Hughie Fury if I’m being honest,” confirmed Lewison before taking a snipe at former Olympian David Price.
“I wanted to fight David Price but he’s been running away like a little w*****.
“To tell you the truth, David Price I wanna put him on his a***. Him and Hughie Fury are the ones I want next year.”
