Joshua is set to defend his heavyweight belts against the Bulgarian in Wales on October 28, which was the day Warren had earmarked for Smith and Williams to collide again, this time in Newcastle.
Whether the move is directly influenced by Joshua v Pulev has not been stated by Warren, who made the chance public via social media on Tuesday morning.

Smith and Williams previously went head-to-head in April at Manchester Arena with the former coming out on top via a debated ninth round stoppage.
Warren decided to stage the match on neutral soil, rather than the Echo Arena in Liverpool and has once again been able to agree WBO title eliminator status for his fighters.
The winner is in line to face new WBO title holder Miguel Cotto.
