Golovkin ready for ‘defining fight’ – says trainer Sanchez

Gennady confirms he has felt great during his preparation, and that the weight issue is not of any concern, in fighting Saul Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 16th.

With the help of his trainer, Abel Sanchez, undefeated Gennady is aiming for the most important victory of his career by defeating Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez, further denting record of 49-1-1 with 34 KOs.

“Gennady needs to beat Canelo, destroy him and break the aura around him. It’s a fight that will have give everything he has. This is the fight that will define Gennady’s future and he knows it. He come to feel the frustration of not getting the fights he wanted, those big ones. But now he is here and he will take advantage of the opportunity,” promised Sanchez.

“I want to win this fight because, I think that this win will be historic, like Sugar Ray Leonard – did it versus (Marvin) Hagler. I remember many great champions like Carlos Monzon, Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Bernard Hopkins “There are a lot of big stories in this division.”

Regarding his age, fresh faced Gennady grinned broadly, insisting he feels in excellent shape, and that being 35 years old will not be any disadvantage against the 27 year old stripling Mexican.
