Conlan: I’d fight UFC’s Johnson in boxing, I’m claustrophobic and don’t want that choking sh**!

With McGregor’s crossing over into the boxing world and it possibly becoming a trend, Conlan would more than welcome fighting MMA’s best inside of a boxing ring, under boxing rules.

The dream scenario would be against the current UFC Flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson 26-2 (5 KOs) in MMA.

“One hundred million percent I would box him. It’s a different sport,” Conlan recently told ATG Radio on whether he would face the UFC champion.

Johnson, 31, who is highly regarded as one of mixed martial arts pound for pound best, has recently spoken out about being mistreated by Dana White and the UFC organization.

Both fighters compete around same weight limit. Conlan is a featherweight in boxing (126lbs) and Johnson a flyweight in MMA (125lbs).

Conlan spoke on if he would ever venture inside of the Octagon to face one of the top stars in mixed martial arts.

“The question is do I have to win? If I can go in and just perform and I didn’t have to win and I can still get $30 million, yeah I would do it.”

“It’s a completely different sport. It’s the same as boxing.

“I feel if an MMA fighter is going to come into boxing, they’re not going to have a chance against me. If I go in there, I’m not going to have a chance against them. I don’t know how to defend these leg locks and all these takedowns.

“I’m claustrophobic! I don’t like anybody trying to choke me. I don’t want that sh*t.”

Conlan, who is one of Top Rank’s brightest rising stars, returns to the ring on September 22nd in Tucson, Arizona apart of the new Fight Series with ESPN.

This will be Conlan’s second appearance on the network. He last fought July 2nd in Brisbane, Australia on the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn undercard.
