Video taken this week of the final preparations undertaken by Floyd Mayweather prior to his clash with Conor McGregor have thrown up a considerable curveball.
Unexpectedly and potentially off-the-cuff, Mayweather and Paulie Malignaggi have claimed they colluded together in order to place the former world champion in McGregor’s camp.
Despite the fact McGregor has already stated he offered Malignaggi a straight up fight with a referee present, ‘The Magic Man’ and Mayweather have insisted they arranged a deal to spy on the Irishman.
Malignaggi enjoyed two sessions with McGregor, both of which the latter says he schooled the boxer in, although these claims have been widely condemned from the other side.
In a latest twist, Mayweather and Malignaggi’s video clowning, documented below by FightHype.com, have led to calls for the semi-retired ex-champion to be removed from the Showtime broadcast.
The 36 year-old is due to take his place in the commentary position for Mayweather v McGregor on Saturday night, whilst some see it as a conflict of interest.
Mayweather and Malignaggi could have simply made up the story for the cameras though, which would seem the most likely scenario.
Judge for yourself.
