Mayweather v McGregor: Glove request approved, officials revealed (along with their hefty paychecks)

The former pound for pound king, obviously wanting to fulfill his knockout promise, asked for the NSAC to consider dropping their 10 ounce limit for the August 26 special attraction.

“I’m telling McGregor, ‘Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves’,” Mayweather stated via social mediia previously.

“McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8oz Grant gloves.

“Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate.

“Let’s give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.”

Many believe the move could favor McGregor, who is used to 4oz fingerless mitts in the Octagon, although there’s a large portion of boxing personnel – inluding major names, who say Mayweather is certain to stop the only ever two-weight UFC king.

In a further development on Wednesday, the referee and judges were confirmed for the T-Mobile Arena extravaganza next week.

Robert Byrd takes the center of the ring, whilst Burt Clements, Dave Moretti, and (the Team McGregor non-US requested) Italian Guido Cavalleri will be judging at ringside.

Below are the totals each official will be pocketing for their duties:

Referee: Robert Byrd – $25,000

Judges: Burt Clements, Dave Moretti, and Guido Cavaller – $20,000.
