Former WBA lightweight king Jesse Vargas sensationally claimed UFC superstar Conor McGregor got knocked out whilst sparring with Brandon Rios.
During an interview with Villanfy Media, Vargas made a bold claim of the Irishman getting decked in sparring.
“He got knocked out in sparring already, man. The boxing world is small. It’s a small circle.”
The 28-year-old backed Floyd Mayweather to win via KO when the pair meet in Vegas:
“Conor’s gonna get knocked out. Mayweather always lives up to the hype. I have no doubt. I actually want to put down money on it, the odds aren’t that bad. He’s knocked out in sparring already, man,” he told Villanfy Media.
However, Rios has responded and laughed off rumours led by Vargas.
“No man. Vargas is f***ing about. I never met that mother****er. I know nothing about him, I’ve never met that mother****er but I’d like to spar him.
“The worlds gone crazy. I’ve been getting text messages, calls and s*** like that,” he said to Elie Seckbach’s ES News.
Despite addressing the speculation, Rios couldn’t resist taking a sly dig towards the two-weight UFC champion.
“The phone’s been blowing up. I don’t even know who he is.
“I don’t even know who the guy is honestly. Even though I watch MMA I don’t know who he is. He got choked out by f***ing Nate Diaz,” the American informed Seckbach.
The super-fight between Mayweather and McGregor will be televised live on PPV with Showtime owning the rights. The coverage takes place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
