Las Vegas now favourite to host Joshua v Klitschko rematch

A massive clash rematch between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko could now be heading for the T-Mobile Arena or MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

An admission from promoter Eddie Hearn that the boxing capital of the world was the ‘frontrunner’ to host their second fight means both venues have come into contention.

Joshua defeated Klitschko via eleventh round stoppage at Wembley Stadium in April, and with a retun lined up for later this year, a high-profile indoor arena is a must.

The 20,000 purpose-built T-Mobile Arena would fit the bill perfectly after already being confirmed to host Gennady Golovkin v Canelo in September and likely to be the scene for Floyd Mayweather’s comeback against Conor McGregor a month earlier.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “With promoter Eddie Hearn revealing Las Vegas as the current front-runner to stage the AJ-Klitschko rematch, a flurry of bets has seen the fight capital of the world backed into 4/6 to host the bout.

“Las Vegas had been priced at 7/4 previously, but British fight fans now look set for another trip across the Atlantic. Meanwhile, Cardiff has drifted from favourite at 6/4 to 5’s, while Nigeria remains a viable option at 7/2.”
