Lucas Browne makes light work of Matthew Greer in comeback bout

The 38 year-old, out of action for fourteen months due to a pair of disputed drug test failures, got back on track with a crushing second round stoppage.

Greer, an American journeyman with 20 reverses on his record, was no match for ‘Big Daddy’ who just wanted to shake off a bit of ring rust before another assault on the world stage.

Down in round one, the writing was clearly on the wall for Greer as Browne finished the job in the same session as Hughie Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Bigger tests are set to come for Browne as the knockout artist pushes to be reinstated in the world ratings.

Browne defeated Ruslan Chagaev to lift a version of the world crown in March 2016 but has cut a frustrated figure since and is out of contention for the current crop of champions.

Anthony Joshua looks set for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko should the Ukrainian confirm the invoking of his clause, whilst Joseph Parker still has mandatory business with Hughie Fury.

That leaves Deontay Wilder is the main focus for Browne, although with the WBC previously removing him from the rankings, the ex-MMA fighter will have to patiently await the next ratings list.
