Former interim world champion Mike Alvarado scored the 37th of his career on Friday when the American stopped Matthew Strode in the second round.

‘Mile High’ wasted no time taking out his opponent and is now three wins into his comeback from losing a rubber match to Brandon Rios in January 2015.

Also on the bill, and in the same welterweight division, Alex Saucedo improved to 25-0 with a unanimous points win over Wilbeth Lopez, whilst Egidijus Kavaliauskas remained undefeated by halting Daniel Echeverria in six.

Michael Conlan made it two third round victories from two starts against Alfredo Chanez as the 25 year-old Irishman once again drew a strong crowd in the USA.

Across the Atlantic in Wales, Andrew Selby moved closer to a WBC title shot with a decision win over the much more experienced Cristofer Rosales, whilst Matty Askin picked up the vacant British Cruiserweight title when dominating and stopping previously unbeaten Craig Kennedy.

Further down the card, ex-amateur star Fred Evans made his debut and duly record the first win of his career in a four-round points triumph against Najim Fennane.

In Florida, Kanat Islam continued his push for world honors by overhauling Norberto Gonzalez, whilst heavyweight Zhilei Zhang blasted out Curtis Harper in the first round to push to 16-0.
