Sulaiman critical of Dirrell uncle Lawson for Uzcategui attack

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán criticized the ultra-violent actions from the uncle of Andre Dirrell, who reacted in an ignorant incorrect way after the disqualification of Jose Uzcategui, a fighter of Venezuelan origin.

The actions taken inside the ropes were not intentional and that the result had to go to the cards rather than a DQ.

He reiterated the decision of the World Boxing Council to indefinitely suspend Mr. Leon Lawson in participating in any WBC fight.

Mauricio analyzed the appalling incident, seen all over the world, where Mr. Lawson hits the fighter Jose Uzcategui with a sucker punch left hook.

It’s created great harm and damage to our sport. He rejected any form of aggression and bad behavior in the ring and offered all the support to the Venezuelan fighter, who was visiting the WBC weekly conference.

“The Mexican people know that I leave my soul inside the ring and what was done to me was something that ever should have happened to me.

“My mind is calm, what happened was something extraordinary and I think the fans know it,” said Uzcategui.
