WEMBLEY, LONDON, UK – Freddie Roach has fired a warning to Anthony Joshua ahead of tonight’s fight with Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley.
With the critics split, Roach believes the 27-year-old must be wary of trading shots with the former two-time heavyweight champion.
“Joshua is going to need a lot to beat Klitschko, he has to careful in the early exchanges with Klitschko. If he gets caught up and exchanges with both guys going at it then Klitschko can do damage.
“He has big knock-out power and has a great left hook. His left hook has always been his best shot.”
The pair will be fighting for the IBF and the vacant IBO and WBA ‘super’ title in front of a record-breaking 90,000 fans in attendance.
Joshua who possesses the IBF title can become the ‘biggest star in world boxing’ according to Eddie Hearn if he is victorious.
Both men have been praised for embracing each other with respect during the build-up of the hotly-anticipated match-up. Scott Quigg’s new trainer, Roach, met AJ for the first time this week and admitted he is a big-fan of the Watford man.
“I met him for the first time (On Wednesday), he’s a charming guy. Everybody says the same thing about him, he’s one of the good guys – and I like good guys. There’s no bullsh*t, he’s here to fight and is ready to put everything on the line.”
The American was impressed by Joshua’s pedigree and added:
He has a great amateur background. He won the Olympics and has youth on his side. Being young and having youth is great.”
