Conor McGregor explosive, labels Queensberry Rules ‘limited’

Irish MMA star Conor McGregor was displaying some lightning fast combinations in his latest training session with Owen Roddy at SBG Charlestown.

McGregor went through a highly-charged coaching stint captured for his Instagram page, and although ‘The Notorious’ was using his feet, the UFC champ looked as though he’d cause the aging Mayweather some problems with his hands when they finally meet.

“Myself and SBG Charlestown (Roddy) have been working together on unrestricted, unarmed fighting since we are kids,” explained McGregor.

Conor McGregor of Queensberry Rules

“Not much will change when I fight under the famed, yet very limited Queensbury rules.

“No disrespect to single discipline fighters from boxing to kicking to grappling, just know that understanding one style of fighting is simply not enough. You are lying to yourself.

“You are easily dismantled in a true fight. A fight with no rules to protect you.

“In a straight fight, you do not possess enough tools to keep you alive. You will be dismantled and killed.

“Like the late, great Bruce Lee once said: “When you are talking about fighting as it is, with no rules. Well then baby, you’d better train every part of your body”

A September date with Mayweather remains on the table for both sides to agree, although is going to be competed at under those boxing rules McGregor has seemingly dismissed.

This certainly gives Mayweather a massive advantage, leaving McGregor solely relying on his punching power, as nobody has yet been able to match the former pound for pound through 49 fights in the skills stakes.
