Now former WBO bantamweight champ Marlon Tapales has lost his title after failing to make the 118lb limit for his rematch defense against Shohei Omori.
The 25 year-old was due to put his belt on the line for the first time but weighed in at 120lbs in a second attempt on Saturday.
Japanese opponent Omori had no trouble making it under the 118 target and is now the only fighter who can walk away a champion this Sunday in Osaka.
Tapales knocked out Phuengluang Sor Singyu last July to become a world ruler for the first time in his career, although seems likely to be heading up the weights win or lose at the EDION Arena.
Omori won his place opposite Tapales by stopping Rocky Fuentes in December but has already been halted in two rounds by Tapales when the pair met in 2015.
Due to the nature of the result of their first encounter, Tapales remains a strong favorite to come out on top.
