Gomez replaces St. Vil, challenges Wahlström for WBC title

Gomez’s record includes 18 wins and 5 losses with 4 wins coming by KO. She is ranked as the #2 challenger in WBC women’s featherweight division. Gomez won the interim WBO World female bantamweight title in 2014 and has fought Carolina Raquel Duer and Jackie Nava for the WBO World female bantamweight and WBA & WBC World super bantamweight titles, respectively.

Wahlström sees Gomez as a worthy opponent but is determined to keep the world title in Finland.

“Gomez is a seasoned and feisty fighter, but she is in the habit of making mistakes in the ring. And she’ll pay dearly for those mistakes at Turku,” says Wahlström.

In the same event Edis Tatli (29–1) defends his EBU lightweight title against Francesco Patera (17–2) and super middleweight contender Niklas Räsänen (13–1) takes on the experienced Ricardo Marcelo Ramallo (22–11–1).

The event, dubbed as Gatorade Fight Night, is promoted by Dominus Boxing Group and will be live streamed by Viaplay.
