Adrien Broner arrested, found in eight bullet-holed SUV

Multi-weight world champion Adrien Broner has been arrested for what was initially reported as a failure to appear in court.

The 27-year-old, who has found himself on the wrong side of regulations on many occasions in the recent past, was bailed at 5 am on Thursday morning after being picked up in Covington.

What has since emerged is that Broner was found in a rented Suburban SUV riddled with eight bullet holes. Broner was unhurt when picked up by Kentucky police, but neighbors reported in the surrounding area that shots were fired before Broner was taken into custody from behind the wheel.

In his own account to police, Broner stated he was followed from a sports bar on Queen City Avenue,” according to

Ten 9mm casings were found at the scene in what seems to be a fortunate escape for the boxer, who had vowed to clean up his life earlier this year.

Broner was wanted on a warrant to explain a disorderly conduct charge and subsequently sought by the authorities anyway.

He is due to appear in court on April 27.

Only last summer, ‘The Problem’ as he is aptly nicknamed, was released after serving a month in prison stemming from behavior surrounding an assault and robbery charge, which were later dismissed.

While the American’s talent inside the ring goes unquestioned, Broner’s continued brushes with the law outside of boxing are a cause for concern.

With massive world title clashes at 140 and 147 pounds, Broner risks losing millions of dollars if he doesn’t straighten his ways and avoid police interest.

A split decision win over Adrian Granados in February represents the last time Broner took part in a professional bout. He lost his super-lightweight title on the scales ten months earlier.

The Ohio man had already claimed recognized belts at super-featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight since bursting onto the scene in the late 2000s.
