The first great fight between Omar Chávez and Ramón Álvarez in September 2014 was steeped in controversy.
Chavez v Alvarez II will take place on April 29 in the city of Chihuahua (in the gym “Manuel Bernardo Aguirre”) in a super welterweight 10 rounds match.
It will be broadcast via Azteca 7 to Mexico, and through BeIn Sports to the United States and several countries around the world.
The duel between “Businessman” Chavez (35-3-1, 23 ko’s) and “Innocent” Alvarez (24-5-2, 16 ko’s) will be just a week before the much anticipated bout between their Brothers Julio César Chávez Jr. and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is expected to break all the records in Mexico through the PPV system.
It’s estimated that more than 60 million Mexicans will be watching the May 6 clash between Chavez Jr. and “Canelo”.
For this reason, the fight between his brothers, Omar and Ramón, is also significant. The winner will motivate his brother prior the great commitment.
