Catterall, Butler score Manchester stoppages, Dubois TKO in 35 secs

Chorley lad Jack Catterall displayed a dominant performance as he defeated Martin Gethin to retain the WBO Intercontinental title.

Catterall knocked the Midlander down three times before the referee stopped the fight in round three. The super-lightweight showed signs of remorse and intent as he aims to move in on a summer clash with Tyrone Nurse.

Big-punching Daniel ‘Dangerman’ Dubois barely broke sweat after winning on his debut, winning in just 35 seconds against ‘Caveman’ Marcus KellDubois

Dubois used all of his 16 stone 7lbs to his advantage as it took him just one small combination to send Kelly over and out.

Kelly, from Cornwell, got the biggest cheer of the night as he came out swinging. He landed four or five shots on the former ABA champion before being floored.

A short night’s work for the 19-year-old who Tyson Fury has tipped to become the next heavyweight superstar of British boxing.

Earlier, Paul Butler continued the winning formula under the guidance of trainer Joe Gallagher as he defeated Carlos Ruiz via knockout.

Butler’s early dominance proved pivotal, with the Englishmen’s fancy footwork and range movement proving too good for the Argentinian.

The opening rounds for Butler produced a flurry of quick combinations against Ruiz before the Ellesmere Port man took him out in round number four.

Ruiz attempted to get up but the referee intervened and threw the towel in.

The win represents Butler’s sixth consecutive victory and the ‘Babyfaced Assassin’ is eyeing up another attempt of becoming world champion in the bantamweight division.

Mason Cartwright’s entrance to the ring took longer than the fight as he banished Sam Omidi in just 65 seconds.

The Ellesmere Port boxer produced a stunning knockdown in the opening 30 seconds before Omidi got back up from the canvas.

However, despite showing bravery, it was only another 30 seconds before Cartwright knocked him down again to win the contest and improve to 9-0-1.

Cartwright’s hometown has had a Saturday night to cheer about with Paul Butler also victorious tonight at the M.E.N Arena.
