Hot UK 5-0 prospect Scott Fitzgerald and former 147 Commonwealth Games Gold medallist caught up with WBN to talk about his 2017 and future plans.

Fitzgerald fights this weekend in Preston against Andrej Ceper in an eight round contest. He also is fighting on the Martin Murray – Gabe Rosado undercard at the Liverpool echo arena April 22nd.

“I’m happy with the start I’ve made going 5-0 with 3 KOS. I got put down in my fifth fight and it was the kick up the a*** I needed to make sure I’m doing things right mainly outside of the gym so I can make sure I get the best out of myself.”

“I have my opponent for March 11th, a Russian called Andrej Ceper which will be an 8 round contest. Hopefully, this will give me some rounds and I’m looking forward to it. For my next fight on April 22nd at the Liverpool Echo arena, I’m hearing I’m fighting a 2012 Olympian from Africa. This should be a bit of a step up so I’m looking forward to that.”

“Training has been great, I’ve been in the Jennings gym working on going back to basics. Staying switched on, on the way out and staying tight. Sparring has gone great and I’m feeling really good going into this fight.”

“I’m hoping to have another 5 or 6 fights this year which will take me to 11 and set up a big 2018. I want to win a British title and that’s what I have my eyes on right now, hopefully by some point next year.”

“My long term goals are world titles and making enough money out of the sport to have a comfy life, so I know I have to keep working hard and learning. Domestically I have a few fighters on my radar and when the time is right I will be making it clear who they are.”

Tickets are priced at £120 for a meal, ringside and after party. Ringside tickets are £60 and general tickets are £40.
