Golovkin wants no more talking from rivals, action in 2017

Gennady Golovkin is looking to make yet another career statement with a big knockout victory over the number two fighter in the division on March 18.

‘GGG’ battles Daniel Jacobs in a mandatory contest before then turning his attention to the likes of Billy Joe Saunders, Chris Eubank, who fought on Channel 5 in association with MaxiNutrition before moving onto ITV Box Office, and Canelo Alvarez, all of whom have been big talkers regarding a fight with the Kazakh puncher.

“Last year there was too much talking with Canelo, Saunders, Eubank and Froch; this game is more serious than that, Daniel he is ready. I think this year will be much better,” said Golovkin before complementing Jacobs, who has lost just once to Dmitry Pirog in his career.

“After the loss to Pirog, Daniel is a smarter, stronger, much better fighter. Daniel is stronger, his body looks big. This is the biggest chance,” he pointed out.

“This is my first fight of the year so I’m very excited, whatever happens after this I’ll be concerned about after the fight with Daniel.

“This is a new year, Daniel is from Brooklyn, Madison Square Garden is my home and it will be a great atmosphere on March 18.

“Training camp has been great, I know my job and I’m ready for Daniel,” stated the middleweight king.

Golovkin vs. Jacobs takes place Saturday, March 18 from the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/ 6:00 p.m. PT.
