Jorge Linares: If Mikey Garcia stays at 135 we can fight this year

With victory Garcia (36-0, 30KOs) became the World Boxing Council lightweight champion and three-division champion after conquering world featherweight and super featherweight titles.

Linares, 31, hoped Garcia would win, but no one could predict the rapid explosive impact, thus import of that flaring match.

“I was very impressed with what he did. He is a great champion, harbouring no doubt he was going to win,” declared Linares.

Before the fight, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed that the winner will face the victor of the next rematch between Linares and Anthony Crolla, which is on March 25.

“It would be a very interesting fight between us. We will see what happens if he decides to stay at 135 pounds. If he does, we will possibly fight this year,” explained Linares.
