Nothing confirmed for Burns, Indongo ahead of Pacquiao

The 33 year-old has been linked to a possible unification with undefeated IBF and IBO champion Julius Indongo by the Scottish press, although any deal is not confirmed at this point in time.

As WBN understands, Freddie Roach was in favour of pound for pound star Manny Pacquiao travelling to Scotland to challenge Burns in the spring, although promoter Bob Arum intends to pit the Filipino against Jeff Horn in Australia.

That would then leave Burns free to pursue Indongo for a massive three-belt unification in Glasgow, potentially at some point in April.

Obviously, Burns’ first choice would be a huge home clash with the ‘Pacman’ as the Coatbridge man bids to secure his future before retirement, although taking Indongo’s belts could mean an even bigger match-up with Pacquiao in future.

A Stateside bout with outspoken Cincinnati-native Adrien Broner is also much-talked about for Burns later in 2017 as the three-weight world title holder’s team work around the clock to get the best deal for their man.

Burns facing Indongo looks the more likely at the moment as Pacquiao v Horn moves closer for Brisbane in mid-spring.
