Jonas backs Vasquez Jr. to return stronger against Collazo

Vasquez Jr. will face the experienced Luis Collazo 36-7-0 on Feb. 4 at Horseshoe Casino, Tunica, Mississippi in a 10-round bout.

“Sammy Vasquez Jr. is a warrior, he has the character to go forward, and this opportunity against Collazo will be Sammy’s return to the big fights. He is at the best level and will soon be challenging boxers like Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Errol Spence Jr. and the best out there at welterweight, “Jonas said.

“In the same way that Vasquez Jr. did, we do not want to put any excuse about his defeat in the last fight. I just want to say that we at PROBOX and PBC are convinced that Sammy Vasquez Jr. will return this year to the big fights,” added Jonas.

Luis Collazo is an experienced fighter who has faced great challenges in his career. Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, Victor Ortiz and Keith Thurman are on their record. Collazo won and lost against the best possible opposition, and this fight against Vasquez Jr. shows that Sammy is at the best level.

Sammy Vasquez Jr. is taking this fight seriously. His workouts are intense and he hopes to arrive in the best condition to resume his place from very early in 2017. “Sammy is a pro, he prepares for each fight with determination and that is what will put his name again in the big fights” Concludes Jonas from Florida.

Vasquez Jr. himself said: “I think Collazo is a tough fighter, very crafty and has a lot of will. I think our fight will be great but I’m coming back the best anyone ever seen.

“My loss with Diaz doesn’t affect me at all and it is what it is. Now, I have everything taken care of and I’m hungrier than ever. I think the loss helped me in the fact people won’t duck me anymore as they think I’ve got weakness.”
