Last week the CBC held it’s AGM at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House in London’s Pall Mall.
Discussed on the agenda were some mandatory defences to take place in the coming year.
A list of current Champions, contenders and defence obligations is circulated as attached but in particular the CBC has ordered the following mandatory defence obligations :-
KRIS GEORGE (Champion, Australia) to defend against LARRY EKUNDAYO (Nigeria) by 30th June 2017.
LIAM WALSH (Champion, England) to defend against ANDY TOWNEND (England) by 31st March 2017.
The Champion is on course for a World Title opportunity and is not expected to defend, but as he has not vacated, the CBC has re-instated Townend as mandatory challenger.
GAMAL YAFAI (Champion, England) to defend against EMMANUEL QUARTEY (Ghana) by 28th February 2017.
This match, postponed as a result of injury to the Champion is expected to take place by this deadline, promoted by Eddie Hearn who won the right to promote via purse bid.
